Bee
As the world’s most important group of pollinators, bees are a crucial part of agricultural production and natural ecosystem function. They support the growth of trees, flowers, and other plants, which serve as food and shelter for creatures large and small. Some species, like Apis mellifera, produce honey. This sickly sweet golden liquid is valuable not only for its saccharine taste, but also due to its medicinal properties and the fact it is so energy dense.
Bat
Bats are very important animals for the ecosystems. Tropical bats are essential to the rain forest, where they pollinate flowers and disperse seeds for countless trees and shrubs. Bats eat so many insects, that they lessen the need for use of chemical pesticides in agriculture and they help to control viruses spread by the insects.
Squirrel
Squirrels are the forest gardeners. They bury seeds throughout the forest, and often they forget where they are. When this happens, they are effectively planting seeds. Burying also helps aerate the soil and promote plant growth.
Squirrels are also essential for pollination because they help to spread pollen from one plant to another.
Shark
Sharks have an important role in maintaining the ocean ecosystem and also serving as an indicator of the ocean health. They control the populations of prey species by eliminating the weak and sick animals ensuring the species diversity. Sharks are one of the most important groups of predators of the planet.
Elephant
When elephants eat, they create gaps in the vegetation. These gaps allow new plants to grow and create pathways for other smaller animals. During the dry season, they use their feet, trunks and tusks to create holes deep enough to tap into underground water sources. These watering holes stay available for other animals drink too. Elephants are essential to maintain forest ecosystems for other species.
